Why subscribe?

After working with dozens of lawyers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, we have insights to share. Many lawyers want to communicate clearly with their clients. Many understand the importance of plain language when communicating with someone outside of their field. But it isn’t always easy to apply the principles of plain language to your daily practice.

Spruce Content is a boutique communications consultancy. We work with nonprofits, public sector agencies, law societies, and other groups to help make sure the message is resonating with the audience. Plain Language for Lawyers is one of our contributions to legal communications beyond the scope of our project work. We developed this publication to help you translate legalese to plain language. We want to help you support your clients — whether that is by reassuring them and alleviating their stress or clarifying the extent of the trouble they are in.

What can you expect from this subscription?

  • Weekly articles tailored for lawyers interested in improving their communication with non-lawyers.

  • Actionable strategies for embedding plain language principles in your legal practice.

  • Insights into how to better understand and connect with your clients.

  • More special projects in the months to come!
